Reintegration is an experimental process by which an individual implanted with a Severance chip is no longer under its control. The actual process is vague; it does not involve removing the implant. If performed successfully, the result is “full synaptic recoupling.”

The first person to undergo Reintegration is Peter Kilmer. He later died, possibly from Reintegration sickness.

Reintegration is performed secretly by Dr. Reghabi, a former Lumon Industries employee. She is the surgeon who performed implantations for the company.

The Board does not acknowledge the existence of reintegration.

When Harmony Cobel retrieves Petey’s Chip, people in R&D find evidence he underwent reintegration. The Board does agree to meet with Cobel and hear out what was discovered.
