Upon moving into the management office after his promotion, Seth Milchick has installed a bonsai tree in the corner of the office behind his desk to the left, near the skylit room window.

When Mark S. digs through Milchick's drawers trying to find the Board Speaker, he opens a drawer, revealing bonsai maintenance tools, so we know this is not a fake plant like the other plants on the severed floor.

In Japanese, bonsai means a tree or growing plant which is planted in shallow ground. They symbolize peace, harmony, balance, and the beauty of nature, as well as strength, resilience, wisdom, and longevity. Famously they are rigidly controlled through careful pruning and take a great deal of discipline to maintain at their diminutive size. As Kier has said, “One must be cut to heal.”
