-The painting depicts young Kier Eagan lying in a wooden bedthe room lit by a single candle held by what appears to be a nurse or a maid leaning down. His head is wrapped in a white bandage. Crouched by the candle, a man, likely a doctor, seems to be removing a blanket or cloth from Kier's loosely folded arm. Another nurse or maid stands at the opposite head of the bed. A male and female figure kneel at the bed, praying, possibly Kier's parents+In addition, Irving Bailiff’s Outie is prolific painter at his home studiothough he appears to paint only one subject over and over—the corridor leading to the Testing Floor.

-The nature of Kier's injury or illness is not clear. +===== List of artworks =====

-Knowing the history of the scene, Irving quotes Kier saying after his recovery, "Let not weakness live in your veins. Cherished workers, drown it inside you. Rise up from your deathbed and sally forth, more perfect for the struggle," an exhortation that he seems to find inspiring.+The names of artworks with known titles are listed in bold.

-The image shows Kier Eagan standing on a rock promontory, with his back to the viewer. He looks upon several bodies of water below him in the distance. They vaguely resemble the shapes of the Great Lakes in North America. +
- +
-Neither Burt nor Irving like this picture, because they are afraid that Kier might fall from the ledge. +
- +
-** The Taming of the Tempers (Placeholder Name) ** +
- +
- +
-The actual name of this painting is not known.  +
- +
-The painting is rendered in the Renaissance style. The scene is composed inside a rocky cave, near the cave's opening. On the left side of the painting, closest to and framed by the outline of the cave opening, is a man wearing a belted tunic and robe, reminiscent of a biblical figure. He is illuminated from behind by the light coming into the cave. He is white haired and bearded. In his right hand he holds a cat-o'-nine-tails aloft, as if preparing to strike.  This man is intended to represent Kier Eagan. +
- +
-On the right, four figures cower from the oncoming attack: a young woman dressed as a bride, an old woman, a man dressed as a fool, and a figure wearing the head of a horned goat. They represent the four tempers - Woe, Frolic, Dread and Malice. +
- +
-The painting is clearly inspired by the words of Kier Eagan when he said, "In my life, I have identified four components, which I call //tempers//, from which are derived every human soul. Woe. Frolic. Dread. Malice. Each man's character is defined by the precise ratio that resides in him. I walked into the cave of my own mind, and there I tamed them. Should you tame the tempers as I did mine, then the world shall become but your appendage." +
- +
-The painting currently hangs in the Wellness waiting room. Burt finds the painting "calming." +
